The
Carolina Connoisseur
Best
Websites
Published
monthly since 1943, North Carolina Magazine explores issues in
business management, politics, state government, international
trade, finance, and economic growth. It's read each month by some
50,000 business, political and educational leaders across the
state. We wish Allan all the best at his new position.
Our other co-founder Renee Wright is also
on board at North Carolina Magazine as Travel Editor. You'll find
her articles on travel options throughout the state archived on
its website.

Have you seen "Normie"
the Lake Norman Monster? Report your sightings here! Great site
features games, free email, lots of "monster info" plus
information about living at the lake.
Jolly Roger.com is one
of our favorite North Carolina-based sites. It's about classic
literature, poetry, music, and lighthouses. You can find literary
friends, penpals, and greeting cards, not to mention a modern
Ahab who searched for a girl who answered "Moby Dick,"
when asked to name her favorite book:

William Dunk is probably
best known for his yearly report on annual (corporate) reports,
once a regular feature of the Louis Rukheyser Wall Street Week
show. Dunk, who advises corporations and entrepreneurs, among
others on weighty business matters, is also a bon vivant and connoisseur
of the best life offers. His Web site has featured many of those
"Bests" in the Carolinas and elsewhere. It's updated
regularly and always worth a visit:

LocalTechWire.com is a daily news site co-founded
by CarolinasBest publisher and writer, Allan Maurer in 2002. It
won the North Carolina Electronics and Information Technology
Association Media Award in 2003 after less than two years in existence.
It covers venture-backed start-ups, technology and biotechnology,
and the entrepreneurial scene in NC and the southeast:
